NEW YORK – Before this week’s New York auto show, Subaru had already announced that the 2011 WRX would adopt its big brother WRX STI’s wide body styling. Road Trip: End-to-end on the Four-oh-One

SOMEWHERE WEST OF CORNWALL, Ont. – In between this year’s Detroit and Montreal auto shows, I decided to drive the King’s Highway 401 (also known as the Macdonald-Cartier Freeway) from end-to-end in one day in a 2010 Porsche Panamera 4S. As the longest expressway in Ontario, and one of the widest and busiest in the world, the Four-oh-One extends 818 km from its start on the outskirts of Windsor, to the Quebec border east of Cornwall, where it becomes Quebec Autoroute 20. OAXACA, Mexico—Before I was handed the keys to a shiny new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG “super” sports cars, officials from the German automaker warned me that driving here would be different. Especially given that our planned route was a section of Mexico’s historic La Carrera Panamericana road race, an event the SLS AMG’s historical inspiration — the 1952 300 SL Gullwing racecar — won in its debut. It’s also one of the most dangerous road races in history. Read more
