2014 New York: 2015 Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe

As spring surely follows winter, so does a hotted-up, AMG version of any new Mercedes-Benz. So it was no surprise to find the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe appear for the first time here in NYC; a high-performance take on the German automaker’s full-size S Class two-door coupe that recently replaced the outgoing CL 63 AMG.

Powered by a hand-built, twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre eight-cylinder gas engine, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe makes a prodigious 577 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque, channeled through a seven-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. Zero to 100 kilometres per hour takes only a claimed 3.9 seconds. And just like the recently introduced S 63 AMG fullsize sedan, you’ll have a choice between standard rear- or optional all-wheel drive.
