2014 Geneva Motor Show: Maserati Alfieri Concept
Story and photos by John LeBlanc
GENEVA – With such grand touring cars in its history as the 1957 3500 GT, 1959 5000 GT, 1969 Indy and the current GranTurismo, it’s no surprise the new Maserati Alfieri Concept 2+2 GT coupe is gorgeous to look at, and arguably a sexier looking Jaguar F-Type — a vehicle the new Maser looks like its been targeted directly at.
Named after Alfieri Maserati, one of the founding Maserati brothers, the Alfieri Concept is based on the current, rear-wheel-drive Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale. Under its long front hood resides a 4.7-litre eight-cylinder engine making 460 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automated gearbox, limited-slip rear differential and carbon-ceramic disc brakes from the GranTurismo MC Stradale with blue Brembo brake calipers speak of the Alfieri’s sporting intentions.
