2014 Geneva Motor Show: Volkswagen T-Roc Concept
Story and photos by John LeBlanc
GENEVA – Just as Jeep was unveiling its Renegade and Nissan was showcasing a refresh of its Juke and Hyundai rolled out its Intrado Concept here at the Geneva show, Volkswagen debuted its thoughts on the burgeoning small-and-sporty crossover segment: the T-Roc Concept, a Golf-based, Targa-roofed two-door crossover that is all but guaranteed to go into production.
Add two more doors and a fixed roof, and the Volkswagen T-Roc concept — or something like it with a different name — should be in a VW showroom in the next few years. Further evidence is the T-Roc Concept’s powertrain, a dead-stock, turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with 182 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque (also slated for the Canadian-bound VW Golf GTD) mated to the brand’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.
