2014 Geneva Motor Show: 2015 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe
Story and photos by John LeBlanc
GENEVA – The new 2015 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is the four-door version of the two-door 4 Series Coupe that’s based off the 3 Series four-door sedan — got it? If you can follow BMW’s product planning logic, the 4 Series Gran Coupe rewards with one of the better looking four-door sedans on the market, and a unique body style its rivals do not offer.
In the similar fashion BMW’s 6 Series Gran Coupe splits the difference between the 5 Series sedan and 6 Series Coupe, the four-passenger 4 Series Gran Coupe differs from the 4 Series Coupe by the addition of two more doors and a bit of extra rear passenger room, yet offers a sleeker roofline than the more upright 3 Series four-door. Canadian-market models have not been announced, but here in Geneva, we saw rear-wheel-drive versions with two gas engines: the four-cylinder 428i Gran Coupe and the six-cylinder 435i Gran Coupe.
