2014 New York: 2015 Dodge Challenger

DSC01209 Story and photos by John LeBlanc Like its four-door Charger platform-mate, the 2015 Dodge Challenger two-door coupe has been updated for 2015, highlighted by a 1970s muscle car-era 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker model. According to Dodge’s president and CEO, Tim Kuniskis, “The iconic 1971 Challenger inspired the design of this modern day muscle car.” That approach is obvious after one look at the 2015 Challenger 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker, with its 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque 6.4-litre eight-cylinder gas engine that allows for a claimed “mid-4 second range” 0-100 kilometres per hour time. The remaining six-cylinder and 2015 Challenger SXT and eight-cylinder R/T models also get “1971-inspired” design cues inside and out. While the 2015 Challenger retains its '70s muscle car-era profile, a new split grille, more pronounced and functional power bulge hood, LED halo headlamps and LED taillamps update its retro exterior. Inside, a new, “high-sill” centre console and “driver-focused” instrument panel, aluminum bezels and 14 interior colour and trim options — including throwback Houndstooth premium cloth, Radar Red, or Pearl and Alcantara suede and leather high-performance seats — are other highlighted changes for 2015.
