2014 BMW: 2015 BMW M4 Convertible
Story and photos by John LeBlanc
BMW has already premiered its new 3 Series Sedan-based M4 two-door Coupe and Convertible. Put the two together, and we have BMW’s second New York world debut: the rear-wheel-drive 2015 BMW M4 Convertible, powered by the M4 Coupe’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder gas engine, making 425 horsepower and 406 pound-foot of torque and mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission.
Like the BMW 4 Series Convertible, the new (it goes on-sale just in time for summer), the 2015 M4 Convertible comes with a folding metal hardtop so Canadians can enjoy the two-door’s high-performance all year round. But what you gain in open-air motoring you lose in performance. The heavier Convertible takes 4.4 seconds to go from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour, 0.3 second slower than the hardtop M4 Coupe.
